Surrender is a word that tends to have a negative connotation, typically associated with failure or defeat. However, musician Maggie Rogers believes in surrendering as a positive— allowing ourselves be present to all that is and can be. The design encompasses my perception of surrendering, fully processing the world around us.

This article design explores the journey of the artist “Swarez,” who discovered painting after feeling unsatisfied at his desk job. As someone who also studies psychology, this article caught my attention because it explores the power of expression and creative freedom. I structured the design to parallel Swarez’s phases of thinking— feeling trapped at the beginning of his journey, with overflowing ideas by the end.
